Drawing inspiration from mid century modern newspaper racks and small tables, this shoe rack features simple tapered legs and straight forward joinery. The legs are joined at the top with a unique mitered bridle joint, dados are hand cut into the legs to provide support to the slats, and the long slat members are joined to the stretchers with half lapped dovetails. The slotted brass screws provide a subtle accent while enabling easy assembly and disassembly. The whole piece is finished with shellac to provide protection and to bring out the stunning grain of the walnut (sourced from my dad's farm).
